To enhance the universal dialogue mission of the Catholic Church as well as priority of the Dominican Order and our Ibn-e-Mariam Vice Province Pakistan.
To promote dialogue at all levels among Christians and Muslims and followers of other religions in Pakistan. To make every effort to create a culture of peace, justice, tolerance and respect through dialogue programs, conferences, seminars and publications.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF PEACE CENTER LAHORE
We are publishing a quarterly magazine UMANG with local and global news.
The launching ceremonies of publications are arranged here. This included 4 books written by Fr. James Channan OP: English Book Christian- Muslim Dialogue in Pakistan, Path of Love: A Call for Interfaith Harmony. Two Urdu books entitled Pakistan Main Masihi Muslim Mukalma (Christian-Muslim Dialogue in Pakistan) and Muhabat Ka Rasta (Path of Love).
Launching ceremonies of two books of Fr. Christian W. Troll SJ; Muslim Ask; Christian Answer and its Urdu translation, Muslim Sawalat Masihi Jawabat were arranged here.
A library is also established with hundreds of books on various themes; peace-building, interfaith, Christian-Muslim dialogue and religions.
AIM & OBJECTIVES
AIM:
To provide a good neutral forum of coming under one roof and manifest mutual trust and respect for all religions to bring healing and reconciliation and also to talk about the issues we are faced with their possible solutions.
OBJECTIVES:
To organize meetings, seminars and conferences for the promotion of peace and harmony.
To organize and celebrate International Days, such as; International Day of Peace, International Women’s Day, International Day of Rural Women, International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women, World Interfaith Harmony Week.
To celebrate religious festivals of Christians and Muslims such as Christmas and Eid-ul-Fiter.
To organize seminars, workshop for Christian youth for Faith Formation and witness in an Islamic State of Pakistan.
To provide books, magazines, research papers for scholars, college and university students through our Library
To participate in conferences, seminars, workshops and symposiums at national and international levels.
Peace Center is very important institution which is playing a significant role in spite of all the difficulties we are confronted with. A couple of Dominican Friars are active in Christian- Muslim dialogue and they are well known both nationally and internationally for promoting Christian-Muslim dialogue. It is top priority of the Dominican Order in the world and in Pakistan as well.
