An International Summit on Religious Freedom was organised by several governments and non- Government organisations in Washington, DC, USA from 28-30 June, 2022. International Religious Freedom (IRF) is annual held conference that brings together groups on non- government and government organisations, civil society to discuss religious freedom issues on a non- attribution basis. It is a safe space where patricians gather and speak freely in sharing ideas and information and propose joint, multi faith advocacy to discuss specific religious freedom issues and to promote interfaith harmony and peace and thus to make our world more sustainable and peaceful.


Fr James Channan OP was invited as Director of Peace Center to attend Summit and also to share the problems of religious freedom faced by the people of Pakistan and especially Christian, Hindu and Sikh minorities. Fr James in detail the interfaith dialogue and harmony events which take place here and many programs to address the issues of religious freedom faced by minorities, women and youth. It was a very enriching experience as there were over 1,000 delegates from all over the world. Some world known men and women were also there and they gave testimony of the persecution they faced in their countries. Some of them had spent 10 to 15 years in jails and some on death row on account of false accusations against them.
